California Coastal Rose Society (CCRS) presents the 25th Annual Auction of Rare and Unusual Roses on Saturday, October 25, 2025 and Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the El Corazon Oceanside Senior Center, 3306 Senior Center Drive, Oceanside, CA 92054.

There is no charge for participating in the auction or attending the speakers' presentations.

To view the rare and unusual roses in both the Silent and Live Auctions, go to the above navigation bar. Each rose is linked to either HelpMeFind.com or another website, where one can find pictures and detailed information about the rose.

Online Auction

Online bidding for the Silent and Live Auctions opens Monday, October 13 at noon Pacific Time and closes Friday, October 24 at noon Pacific Time.

Silent Auction

In-person bidding for the Silent Auction will be on display Saturday, Oct. 25 at noon Pacific Time until the Silent Auction closes at noon Pacific Time on Sunday, Oct. 26. Participants will each be given a bidder number and a list of the varieties in both the Silent and Live Auctions. There will be rosarians available to answer any questions.

Live Auction

Begins promptly at 1:30 pm Pacific Time on Sunday, Oct. 26. The roses will be on display from noon Pacific Time on Saturday until 5 pm Pacific Time and from 9 am Pacific Time to noon Pacific Time on Sunday.

No roses will be released or picked up until the end of the Live Auction at 3:00 pm Pacific Time.

Silent Auction Begins

Presentation Program: The Presentation Program begins at 1:00 pm on Saturday. We are honored to have the following distinguished guest speakers who EACH have the distinction of curating separate, extraordinary, large, world-renowned collections of rare and unusual roses in California.

1:00: Gregg Lowery - has been a passionate gardener and collector of plants for over 40 years. His collection of historic roses formed the basis of a Vintage Gardens. He is devoted to the preservation of historic rose cultivars and wild roses. Gregg lectures around the world on roses, their history, and their value to gardens.

2:00: Ping Lim - Director of Ornamental Plant Research, Altman Plants. Ping Lim's lifelong mission is to create stunning roses that can be grown by anyone, anywhere, without the use of harmful chemicals. The intent behind his breeding is to combine the best traits of hybrid tea roses with disease-resistant shrub roses.

3:00: Burling Leong - is a renowned rosarian and owner of Burlington Rose Nursery in Visalia, California. She is a respected expert in growing and propagating roses, particularly hard-to-find varieties, and is recognized for her extensive knowledge of both heritage and modern roses. Leong is a frequent speaker at rose society events, sharing her expertise on rose care, propagation, hybridization, and the business of running a nursery.

4:00: Tom Carruth - is the breeder of over 150 rose cultivars. He accumulated 11 AARS awards in just 14 years. In 2011, he was the recipient of the Luther Burbank Award for extraordinary achievement in the field of plant breeding from the American Horticultural Society and is currently the curator of roses at the Huntington Gardens.

Speakers and Friends Dinner

6:00 pm: Green Dragon Tavern, 6115 Paseo del Norte, Carlsbad. It is conveniently located a few blocks east of the 5 freeway at the Palomar Airport Road exit. Separate checks will be available and dining is limited to 24 people on a first come, first served basis. Please text Becky Yianilos at (760) 822-8812 by April 21th if you wish to attend.
